Are you new to early childhood?  There are things you can do to make yourself more marketable to programs.

1)  A BIG step in becoming teacher qualified is to take the Pyramid Training.  This training teaches you to create a strong classroom that supports children's social-emotional needs.  If you don't have a college degree or any college classes, this training makes it possible for you to get an early childhood credential, expediting your path to becoming a qualified early childhood teacher.  It's not free.  Our partner charges $350 for the training but many employers will pay for the training for you.  Maybe some will reimburse you for taking the class recently as it supports their workforce goals and their program, upon hire.  Details on some Pyramid trainings can be found at:

https://www.eceabrightfoundation.org/services-4

2)  The state of Colorado has a lot of required trainings that you must take to work with children.

  • FEMA-Multi-Hazard Planning for Child Care (2 hours)
  • Prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Use of Safe Sleep Practices (1.5 hours - only take if planning to work with infants under 12 months of age)
  • Preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome and Abusive Head Trauma (1 hour if working with children under 3 years of age)

That gives you a good start on what is required for you to start in a classroom.  You can find these trainings and more on the Professional Development Information Site (PDIS) at:
